ENDLESS™ Legend is a turn-based 4X fantasy-strategy game, where you control every aspect of your civilization as you struggle to save your homeworld Auriga. Create your own Legend!
Some of you have experienced issues with world generation or generate the same game each time. It is a very random bug and we are trying to find a proper fix. One PC of our QA experiences the same issue, but it is in a remote location so debugging is slow.
Meanwhile we have found a workaround for the issue:
Locate the EndlessLegend.exe executable. It should be located somewhere in $/Steam/SteamApps/Common/EndlessLegend
Right click on the exe and select "Properties"
Select the "Compatibility" tab
Check the "Run this program in compatibility for " and select "Windows 7"
If you are using an Anti-Virus or a Firewall program, it might be restricting Endless Legend's permission to write/create files. You can try to set your Anti-Virus/Firewall in order to give Endless Legend unlimited access rights. Same thing for WorldGeneratorContext (or "amplitude.worldgenerator.exe")
Unchecking "Read Only" on your EndlessLegend/Public/WorldGenerator folder and apply to the subfolders.
Once you did that, start Endless Legend in administrator mode.
Then launch the game and see if you can generate a map.
Here's yet another attempt at fixing the issue:
Download the archive Amplitude.WorldGenerator.exe.manifest.zip, uncompress and place the file "Amplitude.WorldGenerator.exe.manifest" inside the folder "... Steam/SteamApps/common/Endless Legend/Public/WorldGenerator".
For the MAC version:
We have only 2 OSX machines at work and the game is working fine on both of them.
1. Can you send another diagnostics file after you try playing on a new map (we might get slightly more info when dealing with a new map).
Please also send some system information.
2. Maybe some required OSX package failed to install on first game launch.
To repeat the process please follow these instructions:
In Steam client, in the game libraries tab, right-click (or MAC equivalent) on “Endless Legend” to open the game Properties,
a. Click on the “Local Files” tab,
b. Select “Browse local files”,
c. In the Finder window you should see some files related to the “Endless Legend” game, somewhere under “Libraries/Application Support/Endless Legend” or something.
i. The folder should contain a package file “MonoFramework-MRE-3.4.0.macos10.xamarin.x86.pkg”
(this package – or more recent version – is required to execute Windows .Net executables on OSX)
ii. Install the package.
iii. Try to launch a new game.
3. If applicable, check your antivirus to make sure it doesn’t prevent the game from launching the “WorldGenerator” process.
4. If still stuck, try to add the command line option “-useshellexecute” (Properties on “Endless Legend” in Steam client library, and “Launch Options”) in last resort… and launch a new game (don’t load Tutorial).
We will keep you updated on a general fix which avoids using this workaround.
Thank you Mr. Girard. I have tested this on my own rig, and can confirm it works as to generating a map without crashing. The randomness thereof, however, I have not yet determined. Note that this solution was tested on a system running Windows 7 64-bit SP 1. I can't answer for if it will work on Windows 8.xx or any other OS.
Hello, for me, it didn't resolve the issue. all time, when i generate a second map without exit the game and after the first fail, i have a "segmentation violation" :

j'ai trouvé l'une des raisons pour laquelle le lancement rate très souvent pour moi: Le Random pour choisir les équipes IA. 10 lancements avec les équipes IA random, 10 échec. 3 lancement en sélectionnant toutes les équipes, 3 réussites. Voila. Si ça vous aide.

For kicks, I loaded an old scenario and it loaded fine. Then exited back and tried to start a new game and it somehow worked but after playing a few turns I got:
UnauthorizedAccessException: Access to the path "C:\Users\JE\Documents\Endless Legend\Save Files\AutoSave 736.zip.51.tmp" is denied.
It seems our Mac installation does not install properly the MonoDevelop package, sorry about that. For reasons unknown, this installation is not needed on all Macs. We will try to fix the install next week.
Meanwhile, you can manually install the package (it is already on your computer). It has fixed the issue for a Mac user.

The work arounds don't .. work for me.. Windows 7 here. If I try to run the 64bit version it just crashes outright, running the 32bit version works for a bit but it crashes trying to generate any world. I know I got it working before because I played it for a while.
Not sure if there are any diagnostic files I can send in to help you figure this out.
I found the problem of the World Generation Crash, at least in my case. The problem is the AV (Kaspersky), when I turn AV off, World Generation works like a charm. But still pleas Fix that, it can't be that i need to turn of AV to Play that game.
Likewise. The game for me gets stuck on when the new game is loading. I am on 64 bit windows 8 and I made all of the adjustments suggested by the mods. Changed it to 32 bit, running in compatibility for windows 7, made an exception in my AV program, and deselected the read-only in the world generator folder. The game crashes and I have to force quit so I can't get a crash report.
I was very excited to play the game but instead I am just disappointed.
Hi, experiencing the same problem as all of the above, using Windows 7. I have tried the workaround with no success. My error message was:

Now, I played the game during open access and it worked just fine. However, since release I can't generate any new worlds, but I can open ones I started during pre-access. A fix would be appreciated, especially since I am pretty damn desperate to play what is an extremely fun game.
Just bought this game and does not work. I tried the following work arounds and the game still does not launch in single player or the tutorial. The following error posted when i hit the single player launch:

As a quick aside I went to edit the registry as it states above, but the [HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Fusion!EnableLog] does not exist in my registry. The closest files are in the windows\current\version\audio or the component based scoring. Both values for the keys are set to 1.
I was looking forward to this game based upon endless space and pc gamer's review. please help.
