Guardians and the Galaxy

Requirement: At least 5 Unfallen Population + 1 Temperate or Fertile planet with no Guardian on it on Empire

Description: You’ve never seen anything like this before; a movement of Unfallen Seconds in your empire have congregated in the (x) system and have begun to take root...together. Not just in the same place, but in the same form, merging into one giant mass. You think it’s a cultural thing because the Seconds that haven't rooted are building a new community around this...thing. What now?

Option 1: Ecologist

Description: If they're becoming Thirds, this is going to take a lot of energy and resources. Let's coordinate with the Unfallen and set up irrigation systems and solar lamps to help with...whatever this is.

Objective: Build 2 Food Improvements on (system x) while keeping 1 Pop slot on the system open.

Reward: Guardian population on (system x)

Description: The process is done, and standing in the middle of a thriving Unfallen community with its branches swaying in the breeze is...a Guardian?! That's is how they’re made? Seconds all settle together and merge into these titans? Why? To make safe places for their siblings to live in? Wait, then how are there Guardians on other worlds? Honestly, the Unfallen raise too many questions to answer.

Option 2: Industrialist

Description: This farce is just a massive drain on resources and time, and they’ve rooted in spots prime for industrial growth! Progress slows down for nobody. Continue with construction for the sake of the rest of society!

Objective: Build 3 Industry Improvements on (system X).

Reward: Ironwood Armour (Ship Hull Slot, reduces crew death)

Description: The smog and pollution from the recent industrial developments actually crippled whatever these Unfallen were doing. Now they’re just a cluster of intertwined Thirds sitting in the middle of a new industrial site. It isn’t pretty, but we did synthesize a new armour from some of the bark that peeled off of them, so that’s a plus! Now all we have to do is replant these poor saps somewhere else...

Conditional Option: Pacifist (Guardian Population on Empire)

Description: Apparently, this is how Guardians are made; Seconds merge into a single gestalt consciousness as they enter the Long Sleep and are self-tasked with protecting other Unfallen. One of the few Guardians of your empire, Boroakagan, explains this and offers more of his knowledge in exchange for supporting this 'Merging'. Exotic substances and minerals help, apparently.

Objective: Explore an anomaly on (planet y) when you have 500 Dust, 25 (strategic) and 25 (strategic) while keeping a population slot open on (system x)

Reward: Guardian pop on (system X) + Seed of Titans (Population Transformation Improvement, sacrifice 3 Unfallen pop to make a Guardian Pop)

Description: The Merging is done. You meet with Boroakagan and his theory is thus; ‘Koyasil may not be our only home. The Unfallen may have been sown on other worlds, but could not endure. So to survive, the last of them merged into Guardians and fell into the slumber we find them in today. Their story is one of loss...yet in falling, they remain...Unfallen.’ You can't help but smile at how poetic that is.

Choice 1 would make more sense if it was "build 1/2 additional Food system improvements", and the population would have to be warded to the system, not a specific planet, as that would be too restrictive.

Choice 2 would also be +1/2 additional industry improvements on system, possibly without a timer (too many possibilities to fail the quest if the system is lost; for instance).

Choice 3 would probably replace luxury strats by strategics, plus ensuring keeping a free slot for the Guardian pop. Also the system improvement is problematic, as food cannot be used in construction (this isn't Endless Legend! ;) ).

Thanks for the feedback. I'll edit it in.

Regarding Option 3, I've seen Food being listed as a required resource for the Chain Gang Program improvement, though it is still a mystery to me as to how it works. In this case, it would be subtracting the growth value of the system and sacrificing Unfallen population to generate a Guardian population unit. If programming that is too much of a bother, though, using Industry is fine with me.

The 1000 food and 3 Unfallen pops are redundant, so we'll just remove the food prerequisite. Otherwise, this is fine!

Glad to hear. Thanks for the feedback!

And so all my backers know, I edited a bit of the grammar in the descriptive texts too. Don't panic; the story hasn't changed at all, it's just a little more clear as to what's happening in the intro, and particularly the alternative option's outcome is just described in a more...Unfallen-ey lingo.
