I've rebooted and deleted the Documents/ES2 directory. Also reinstalled the game.

I am running this on GamePass for PC. 

Version 1.5.26 S5 Gold Public.

No extra DLC purchased.

So, when I tested this morning, the game ran perfectly again. I did not change anything and I used the same Faction Name as before.
