In this case, they need to stop selling ES1.

By the way, ES2 is overheating my Mac and I not want to use it, I just want my ES1 back

The game won’t run. It shows the Amplitude and Endless Space start screens then quits.

Model Name:MacBook Pro
Model Identifier:MacBookPro8,1
Processor Name:Intel Core i7
Processor Speed:2.7 GHz
Number of Processors:1
Total Number of Cores:2
L2 Cache (per Core):256 KB
L3 Cache:4 MB
Memory:8 GB

It won’t launch every time. I try to launch it from Steam.

It's still not working for me . . .

I'm running 10.13.3 so I'm not sure if that changes anything

Could you do us a favor and give us the spec of your computer (eg: Mid 2012), your graphics card (eg: NVidia GT 650M), your Graphics Driver (please be certain to let us know if you're running the web-driver or not), CUDA, etc.  If you can get it to work, we can get it to work.

Also, if you can provide your process, that would be awesome.

______

On that note, I'm going to attempt to update to 10.13.2 so that I can document my shift and see if it works.

Hi roprisko,

My Mac: iMac 27" late 2013, i5 3,4GHz, Nvidia GTX 780 M 4 GB, 16GB RAM, 1TB FD, macOS 10.13.2

No CUDA, no web-driver, just the macOS system graphics driver.

The only thing I have done to get ES1 working was installing the macOS 10.13.2 update.

ES1 works from the beginning without any flaws.

Endless Space 1 Lives Again!

Following the update to Mac OS 10.13.2, make certain of the following:

NVidia Web Driver:  378.10.10.10.25.102

CUDA:  387.99

Steam launched ES1 without difficulty.

I hope those of you who have been following are able to reproduce these results.

Same problem.  Sad to see ES1 break - would have liked to have actually finished at least one game all the way through before it wasn't supported by the developer.

Hello,

Endless Space Disharmony doesn't run under macOS High Sierra. It ran just fine under macOS Sierra but crashes every time during start up under macOS High Sierra. There are some corresponding comments on Steam.

Greetings

Schulle

Good to hear that something is going on. Hopefully there will be a solution for this problem. ES1 is one of my favorite games.

I've been working with Dev Teams at Apple and Nvidia to work on this problem.

I hope that the Amplitude Dev Team feels this is important as well - you don't want bad press to overshadow good.  More importantly, this is a fabricated problem.  ES1 has been working on these machines flawlessly for years.  Most people would like that to continue.

On that note, I have ES2, but I still enjoy ES1.  There's something elegant about it.

None yet, though I think this is now an Endless Space issue with the new OS/Nvidia FW.

For those of you trying to get things to work, here were my steps to get as close as I can:

1)  Update / Downgrade CUDA to 9.0.214

2)  Update /Downgrade GPU to web-driver 378.10.10.10.20.107

3)  Restart Computer

4)  Using your Mac's built-in button to upgrade CUDA, (It will be available in the error you receive on startup) install CUDA 9.0.222 (or go to link.  Not certain if that will work as well)

5)  Restart Computer

That should get you to be functional.  I've noticed decreased performance under High Sierra in Endless Legend, but it will play now without immediately glitching out.  High Sierra has caused havoc with the entire line of GPUs that were standard on the 2012/2013 Macs, which is a shame.

If any of you can get to this point and push forward to get Endless Space working, that would be fantastic!

I’m also having this problem. I initially thought it was a problem with macs running older Nvidia GPUs (650M). It may still be, but with latest drivers, it still wont launch.
