Happy Lunar New Year of the Tiger!

An important symbol in Chinese culture, this majestic animal represents strength and courage in many Asian cultures. So let us celebrate this new year by facing a community challenge together:

From now until February 16th, any Era Stars unlocked while playing Humankind as the Zhou, Ming, or Chinese Culture will add progress towards unlocking new rewards, including new player emblems, new decorations, and a new persona: Wang Zhenyi, a renowned mathematician, astronomer, and poet who lived in the 18th century.

You can track community progress on this challenge on the Humankind page on Games2Gether. All unlocked rewards will be given to all players as part of a patch next month.

In addition, Humankind and the Deluxe Edition Upgrade are 25% off for a week as part as the Lunar New Year Sale. So, if you have not picked up the game yet or want to add the extra content of the deluxe edition, now is a great time for that.

Have fun,

The Amplitude Team

Whew...  I saw the seasonal banner and was concerned that this was going to be another disaster of a FOMO event.  Kudos to Amplitude for listening to our feedback from the Dia de los Muertos event and going with a more traditional community challenge here.

And when are we going to receive the rewards from amplitude 2022? Thanks for this event, i would love if it could be like Día de los muertos event, that one had better challenges and interface to play.

Community challenges are definitely a nice adjustment, much fewer issues with individual progress bugs and FOMO.

Small thing though: maybe add Joseon to the list of cultures to play as. I know that LNY often refers to "Chinese New Year" and that's what events are based on, but there are many more East Asian lunisolar new year festivities around that time of the year, and especially the Korean New Year shares a lot of influences.

It's also celebrated heavily in Thailand due to a big Chinese minority there (biggest Chinese diaspora) who has existed in this size there since the 18th century, so maybe even add the Siamese to the list.

And for even more inclusion, add the Edo Japanese but not the modern Japanese culture (the Meiji westernization implemented the Gregorian calendar instead).

What a pleasant surprise! As a South Korean I feel indefinable complex emotion lol.

1. Happy to celebrate lunar new year in Humankind.

2. Only Chinese cultures?(I'd be really happy if Joseon and some other Asian cultures were included, but I understand focusing on big dominant culture surely have advantages on organizing enjoyable event)

I'm happy with this event anyway. Happy new year folks!

Just one tip, since Lunar New Year is not only observed in China, Korea also celebrate it, both currently and historically, why not count Joseon towards the goal as well. And arguably Edo Japan also celebrate it.

Yeah, I definitely agree with all the comments saying the Joseon and possibly Edo should also be included in this event.

LoL.

The same problem with the event like last time - the Games2Gather web says it is started, steam game page says the same, but when Iaunch the game - it shows that there is no event at this time. Guys there is no in-game message, annoucment, anything. Last time I missed the event - simple because of that. Thanks a lot.

U know guys it is almost 28 january in my country, and the game still didnt fire the event?

+1 to all those saying other East/Southeast Asian cultures should be added to the list, too many games center their LNY community events near-exclusively around Chinese celebrations already.

Consider adding other countries to the progress since Lunar New Year isn't just Chinese culture. It's common in East Asia. Vietnam, Korea and Japan(before The Meiji Restoration) celebrate it.

I'm happy to see that this a proper community event, and not an individual one as most companies do.

When you make events individual, where someone HAS to play to get a thing, you're forcing them to commit time to something that they might not normally do. Often killing enjoyment of a game in the process, just for FOMO. Which most times ends up backfiring. There's been countless games with such events where players have missed on such content, and then just abandoned the games entirely because they now know they're missing content. Yes, even when the content is trivial or meaningless, it still has an effect on people.

I'm happy to see you're doing a real community event, where everyone can get something, even if they don't have the time to play currently. This is how you ensure player dedication and devotion and how you bring communities together.
