Well, I like stories about old gods in some other scifi and fantasy worlds and one name resonate with me - some different shapes of C'tul, C'tum etc. So why not borrow it in some shape?

I would suggest:
C'tham / C'thams

I asked a question a few days ago if I could change some specifics in the original post. My original pitch for the individuals of the faction, I was not happy with the name I gave them and suggested a replacement in the comments of my own thread. I just wanted to know if that's an acceptable practice and do you accept the name change?

FYI - This is in the text of the OP

Busted! I cribbed my own post from the previous contest as a base for this post. I'll change that. :D

Yes, you may. Better be quick!

Upvoting is now open, and will remain so until Wednesday, May 9th, at noon, Paris time. Upvote away!

Also something noteworthy: if the name you're upvoting has a bit of story, fluff text, or description: we're strictly selecting a name here. The backstory is not the subject of a vote, and will be cooked by your favorite writing team (if your favorite writing team is Slowhands and Story Engine).

A final reminder: thread-bumping, and otherwise spamming in other threads/sections might result in your submission getting fired into the sun and disqualification from the contest. Don't be that person!

I see them as watcher of the civilization before the endless, neutral and master as picking right information.

Like "Arbiter" or a concept like that

They will collect information only for the sake of information or for the sake of a specific goal, how to create your own self / redivision of living beings to that energy level of life / creating a particular structure? Here a lot of ideas can be devised for a new race.

Is this contest fair?

What guarantees an equal chance of eveyone's submission being upvoted? Don't people who submit their ideas last get their idea at the top of the list? Sure, you can change the view settings to view old to new, but what incentive is there for someone to submit an idea now than later and have a much *higher* chance of getting their idea viewed and upvoted?

If we assume we have a perfect voter that unbiasedly looks at all the ideas and then chooses their favorite, then I am not concered -- except that that is rarely the case.

I am extremlly certain that majority of voters will only consult the first page. Then a small subset will look at the second page. Another smaller subset may then look at the last page and work backwards or continue onto page three, until they get bored and decide to leave.

I write this post to prove my theory on attetion spanes. I doubt you read this entire post, and if you have, thank you.

But regardless of my micro-experiment, based on the rate of incoming ideas (~4-6+ and hour), it is more than likely for this contest to surpas 5 pages worth of ideas.

I truly have not idea how to get everyone to be a near-perfect voter becuase I find many people in real life to not look beyond the front page.

So please, I ask the community and the devs to assure some form of fairness in this contest.

I currently believe the only way to nuetrally give everyone the same chance would be for the list of ideas each voter recieves to be randomly generated (you could set seed to the server's clock time in milliseconds). Then there would be no time/submission-delay bias when viewing the first page.

I think this contest will be very fun and I look forward to seeing everyone's ideas. I just hope people decide to look at more than one page.

EDIT: How ironic that I end up at the bottom :D

I have to say that i agree with him, the propositions in pages ahead of third or more are screwd...

I feel kind of bad for upvoting my own suggestion (but not bad enough to, you know, not actually vote for it...)

Regardless, I really like a lot of the suggestions, and would be happy with pretty much any of them.

I agree with Supernova117. With so many pages filled with a whole range of names, it seems that those who write first get kicked. I have seen suggestions...... reposted just so that it can be seen again. Unfortunately, that seems to be a necessity. There are two possible solutions, but it is a difficult decision. We could either just stop all new posts or, as Supernova117  suggested, a randomizer. I feel the randomizer would make it harder for new posts to appear. However, I can almost feel for all the people who would lose their chance because they couldn't get their suggestion in fast enough. The vote needs to be updated in such a way in order to give everyone a fair chance because most people will NOT look through all the pages (10, at the time of this comment) just to vote on names.

I do agree, my submission is 8 pages away... so if you want it to be far with users, a randomizer would be needed.

L'Ensafa

An old name, in their own language it just means "we, people", as they had no name for their own race, like we humans call "Earth" to our planet.
