I think it may be difficult for the game to distinguish between mods that have a mechanical function, and mods that are purely aesthetic.

Not really. The main xml file with every mod states which tables are being used. It wouldn't be difficult to white list the tables that only affect palettes, ui, or localization.

Great idea, if we get it implemented it'd be one of the few games with this :)

Also an idea, since I have recieved no response yet, the workshop uploading corrupted my mod and the modding support needs to be fixed pretty soon or people are going to get nothing but corrupted data that the modders can't do anything about. There's an idea for you.

That's an important detail, I had no idea it would be that easy!

I guess it'd actually be a black list for any tables that would affect gameplay. When uploading, it could automatically flag the mod as "achievement disabled mod" They could probably just do it by directory, because in the mod, you have to duplicate the directory structure as well, which also would be easy to detect.

Black List: AI, Curves, Diplomacy, GroundBattle, MinorFactions, Quests, Settings, Siumlation, Statistics and Achievements

White List: Audio, Documentation, Documents, Gui, Localization, Mapping, Shaders.

in this day and age if you couldn't make it so visual mods wouldn't disable achievements then as a game designer you need more practice. And if for some reason it would not work then let the community know and maybe something could be done then.

Its standard for Paradox Grand Strategy Games. I see no reason it couldn't work here

I was thinking the exact same thing.

It might be useful to edit the opening post of the thread to include this info to show that it is easily feasible.
