The Mokinokaro idea about an art book (great idea by the way!) make me think about this one, because the Endless Universe have a great lore that could make a strong base for a "classic" RPG.

I mean, I can't be the only one who wants to play a Vodyani explorer searching for Endless artifact in ancients ruins, or a Lumeris rogue who plans to kill another family's member.

Creating a RPG is a rough work, but Amplitude could make a partnership for the "rules system" part of the process, and manage scenarii/background themself, because they already did it in Endless games.

With this Universe expanding every time a game or addon is released, I think it's just a matter of time before one of our community adapts an existing RPG Rules to fit on the Endless Universe, but if Amplitude Studios could make a official one, it could provide more background and I would definitively pay for it and play it with my friends !

I would love this to happen, maybe they could use a generic system and create a lore book and scenarios. Honestly the lore is so cool it's a shame I can't find any good hacks to make it more known around me.

There is other thinks more important but... Why not. And why not use the community to create it, to choose the mecanics, stats, rules... It could be very fun

The paper RPG it's a particular world... if you want one on Endless Universe, build it. I'm not sure what the developers or Amplitude have time for that.

Because I'm aleady on it, but not in english, for the moment.

I've been kicking around this idea in my head for a few weeks now.  If was assue the PC's are all heros from the Academy, Starfinder's mix of magic (Dust) and sci-fi could work. If you want a more grounded sci-fi game, (more Star Trek, less Star Wars) The Genesys System from Fantasy Flight is super adaptable, and has rules for both hard sci-fi and Science fantasy

They could do it the same way CDPR did with the witcher licence, let a p&p game dev do it and oversee the development.

Or we could create a homebrew ourselves. using a generic system such as Gurps or Savage Worlds.

I am pretty into this idea. I've been thinking about how awesome having a PnP Endless game would be for years now. I'm thinking we, as a community, could at least get the ball rolling. I have a lot of ideas for it, but I know I would need help. Whether or not we adapt existing rules or (somehow) create our own, these are my thoughts so far:

  • First, involve the community deeply in the process. Have votes on how the system would work and what directions it would take.
  • The players will be playing Heroes. They need to be powerful and awe inspiring.
  • My first instinct would be that Dust would power PC abilities, and that this would also play into how levelling works.
  • I would love to adapt or use as inspiration the faction system from Stars Without Number to help power the larger universe the players engage with.

I have a bunch of other wishy-washy ideas, but those are the ones I am most into. I would love to talk to some other folks about really getting into this, so if you are interested, please message me! Even if I don't get any responses, I plan to go ahead with my ideas soon.

Mindjammer is a good base to create Endless on a roll paper RPG.

I'm waiting for "Coriolis" (coming in France soon, I hope) to see if it's possible to use this system for a Endless adaptation :)

I was just about to post the same thing! The Endless Universe is awesome and one of the more unique ones (and one of my favorites), a tabletop rpg would be just amazing and very fun! I agree that it is a lot of work to make the rules and all the "if-then" scenarios, but Amplitude is one of my favorite devlopers and their hard work pays off in fantastic ways, if anyone can do this I believe they can!

I totally support the idea

I am also fond of "old school" rpg (with pen, paper, dices and imagination)

In the same way, I strongly believe that

- Endless universe

- Generic features found throughout the games (food, industry, science, dust) can be the base of an innovating RPG game system

I would be happy to provide my ideas If the Amplitude would consider the point.

To all people of this thread

(and after agreement of Amplitude, that I hereby request)

I will be happy to propose a testing session (on Discord and in English) on a RPG of my creation

this new rpg system is inspired by Endless universe and  an openlicence game system

Please apply here for this "trial and error" first gaming

I would be very happy if anybody answer positively

I would also be honoured if anybody of Amplitude team would participate

Disappointed they went with DnD. A ruleset that had, I dunno, ship handling baked in for example, would have been a wiser choice (Traveller, Starfinder, etc.). But I will listen to it some times. Here's to hope it's a signal about a Table Top RPG coming about someday.

D&D could work, but will probably make for epic fights rather than interesting stories.

Endless Universe shouldn't be forced onto a very rigid structure of a game like D&D. The flow and creativity of places, events and people make it too big of a wonderland for a d20 system to handle. They should go with FATE system or some derivative like Charge RPG. No specific classes, no power-gamer races and no list of possible magic spells. Endless RPG shouldn't be a wargame, but an ever evolving story of dreams and dices.
